GWER opens a new preschool & learning centre at Chirag Delhi in South Delhi

On April 12, 2022, GWER started its third GreenApple learning centre.

The GreenApple Preschool and learning centres operated by GWER cater to most disadvantaged children 4 years to 12 years of age in slums in Delhi mostly inhabited by migrant labourers from nearby states. Most parents are employed in the informal sector with an average household income of Rs. 10, 000 to Rs.20,000.

Classes comprise of small groups of 10-15 students with monitoring of the learning outcome of each and every student.

Most of our older students (7 years and above) come with substantial learning gaps and our first priority is to bring them to their appropriate learning level as fast as possible with carefully designed curriculum, worksheets, teaching-learning aids. We follow the latest recommended NCERT curriculum framework and learning outcomes. There are monthly parent-teacher meetings every second Saturday of the Month to ensure full involvement of parents in their children’s education.

We believe, each child is a star, and hope these learning centres will bring the best out of them.

Going online

The corona epidemic has forced us to explore digital options for education. Most of our first-generation learners don’t have access to literate parents, computers or tablets. The only gadget available is a smartphone, often shared among parents and several siblings. Whatapp classes has emerged as the most viable online option. However, the online content in Hindi is limited and not well organized. We have prepared the content in the form of quizzes and bite-size writing exercises with clearly defined learning objectives for most of the subjects in elementary classes. Teachers will be easily able to send the links directly from the website to their Whatapp classrooms.
