Ms. Shantha Sinha
Shantha Sinha served as a Professor in the department of Political Science, University of Hyderabad and also as the First Chairperson of the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR), Govt. Of India for two consecutive terms.
(2007-2013). She is the Founder Secretary Trustee of M.V.Foundation (MVF) and India’s leading child rights activist. Through MVF she spearheaded a social movement that was responsible for withdrawing about one million children from child labor; stopping over 20000 child marriages and ensuring that all these children are enrolled in schools and complete class 10.

As the First Chairperson of NCPCR she addressed issues concerning violation of children’s rights in relation to child labor and child trafficking; rights of children in areas of civil unrest; right to education; juvenile justice; child sexual abuse; child malnutrition and so on. She is the recipient of Ramon Magsaysay Award for community leadership in 2003 and Padma Shri by the Govt. Of India in 1998.
